About

Darrell Nickolson is an Architectural Technologist and Interior Designer with areas of focus in Evidence-Based Design, Building Information Modeling, Large Commercial Buildings, and Community Development Design. Professor Nickolson joined Herron School of Art and Design in August of 2024. He is also member of the design team at Curran Architecture where he spends his summers practicing commercial architecture and interior design. Nickolson is a member of the American Institute for Architects and is a Registered Interior Designer.

Professor Nickolson has practiced and taught interior and architectural design for over 20 years, working on projects both domestic and international. He has a passion for leading students in community-based experiential learning design projects, and has most recently explored projects that make use of solar energy. When he’s not designing or teaching, Professor Nickolson enjoys spending time with his wife and kids, mentoring and coaching youth sports, and watching the Chicago Cubs.
