Minor in Art History

Requirements

A minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 is required for courses used to fulfill requirements for the art history minor.

Not all courses are regularly offered. Students are encouraged to consult with their academic advisor to better plan their studies.

INTRODUCTORY SURVEY COURSES

Six credits are required. These courses are recommended prerequisites for upper-level elective courses.

  • HER-H 101 History of Art I (3 credits)
  • HER-H 102 History of Art II (3 credits)
  • HER-H 205 History of Contemporary Art (3 credits)
UPPER-LEVEL ELECTIVE COURSES

Nine credits are required. Six upper-level elective credits must be taken at Herron. Your path of study must include courses in at least two historical periods or subject categories. At least one 400-level course is recommended.

  • Ancient & Medieval
  • Early Modern (Renaissance through Neoclassicism)
  • Modern (1800-1950)
  • Post-1950
  • World Art
  • Art Theory, Analysis, & Criticism
