Music Technology Minor

Requirements

A minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 is required for courses used to fulfill the Music Technology minor requirements.

Not all courses are regularly offered. Students are encouraged to consult with their academic advisor to better plan their studies.

CORE COURSES

Eight or ten credits are required. Choose three or four of the following courses (note the prerequisites):

  • MUS-A 130 Music Theory and History I (3 credits, with MUS-Z 111 Intro to Music Theory prerequisite with a minimum grade of B, or music theory placement test)
  • MUS-A 132 Music Technology Lab I (3 credits, with MUS-A 107 Music Technology Fundamentals prerequisite with a minimum grade of B, or music technology placement test)
  • MUS-A 142 Music Technology Lab II (3 credits, with MUS-A 132 prerequisite with a minimum grade of C, or music technology placement test)
  • MUS-M 340 History of Electronic Music (3 credits, with MUS-A 132 prerequisite with a minimum grade of C)
  • Music and Arts Technology music technology ensemble (requires consent of instructor) (2 credits)
ELECTIVE COURSES

Eight or ten credits are required. Choose three or four of the following courses (note the prerequisites):

  • MUS-A 200 Applied music lessons, all sections (2 credits)
  • MUS-A 231 Musicianship Skills III (2 credits, with MUS-A 132 prerequisite with a minimum grade of C)
  • MUS-A 232 Music Tech Lab III (3 credits, with MUS-A 142 prerequisite with a minimum grade of C)
  • MUS-A 241 Ear Training for Music Tech (2 credits, with MUS-A 231 prerequisite with a minimum grade of C)
  • MUS-A 242 Music Tech Lab IV (3 credits, with MUS-A 142 prerequisite with a minimum grade of C or consent of instructor)
  • MUS-Z 317 Computer Music Composition I (3 credits, with MUS-A 140 prerequisite with a minimum grade of C)
