Transfer Applicants

Transfer to Herron from another institution

Transfer students must be unconditionally admitted to IU Indianapolis in order to attend Herron. Review admissions standards for transfer students and complete the online application on the IU Indianapolis Admissions website.

A portfolio is required of all Bachelor of Art Education and Bachelor of Fine Arts applicants. You can submit it any time after applying to IU Indianapolis. If you apply for a Bachelor of Art History, you do not have to submit a portfolio.

Review the key transfer dates and deadlines before you submit your materials. Applications and supporting documents must be received by the priority deadline in order to receive full consideration for the term in which you would like to be enrolled.

Application fees for transfer students

  • IU Indianapolis online application fee: $65 (non-refundable; may be waived)
  • Herron SlideRoom portfolio fee: $10 (non-refundable; cannot be waived)

Transfer agreements

An articulation agreement allows Ivy Tech Community College students to apply course credits toward Herron's Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) requirements. It covers only students transferring into our B.F.A. degree programs; it does not apply to the B.A. in art history or B.A.E. in art education.

Visit the IU Indianapolis Center for Transfer and Adult Students website for further information and the complete list of transferrable courses.
