Graduation

Congratulations!

If you've arrived here, it means your time at Herron School of Art and Design has come to an end. Follow these steps to finish your degree, graduate, and be a part of Herron's Recognition Event and IU Indianapolis Commencement.

School Recognition Event

Herron's 2025 Recognition Event will occur on Friday, May 16, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. ET at the Madam Walker Legacy Center.

Graduating Herron students can bring up to five guests. Graduating seniors must pre-register to participate in the event. More information will be sent soon to your IU email account, along with a link to register your guests for the recognition event. (Seniors do not need to register themselves.)

Graduates and their guests are invited to a reception from 8 to 10 p.m. ET in Eskenazi Hall.

Step 1: Complete your degree requirements

Consult your advisor to ensure you have completed all of your degree requirements and are on track to graduate.

Schedule an advising appointment

Step 2: Apply to graduate

Tell us when you plan to complete your degree by applying for graduation online. Submitting your intent to graduate means:

  • Your degree will be awarded.
  • You will receive a diploma.
  • You will receive important commencement information.
  • Your name will appear in the commencement program.

Make sure to submit your application by the priority deadline for the term you intend to graduate in.

Degrees will not be conferred unless a graduation application is on file. If you applied to graduate on a previous date but did not graduate, you must reapply for the following term.

Step 3: Participate in IU Indianapolis Commencement

Candidates completing their degree requirements between the fall 2024 and summer 2025 terms are invited to attend the 2025 IU Indianapolis Commencement Ceremony at Michael A. Carroll Stadium. There is one ceremony for all graduate and undergraduate degree recipients.

IU Indianapolis Commencement:
8 p.m. Thursday, May 15.

Step 4: Get your diploma

Your diploma will arrive about three months after you graduate. We'll contact you via your IU email account when your diploma is available.

In the meantime, you can purchase an official transcript to show employers or graduate schools that want to verify your degree.
